Painting Brake Calipers.

Hi Folks

If your are into "painting your brake calipers red" the correct colour for brembo as per below is "KIA RED" You can have a base coat made up at Paint supplier to the trade, but would suggest you paint first with hammertite let dry for a few days and then paint with KIA RED. I am going to give mine a try and post pickies later.

I think that they look superb painted - I only wish that I could do it but I am not sure that my mechanics is up to removing and replacing them. I would pay to have this done.

One member added a Mazda logo to theirs - nice touch.

I would rather have those Brembos than paint my standard ones red. I did think about doing them red as I think it would look good and match my braces but didn't want to draw attention to the standard brakes so I have just got some black paint to do mine.

    Hi

The calipers are only held in with one bolt. You could remove and place them on a box to give access.
You would need to remove pads and four guilde plates you need to push back the piston before incerting the pads after bolting the calipers back. There is an article on www.miata.net on how to do it. YOU can do it in situe but you end up getting paint on the pads.

I am going to paint the calipers and backplates on our new car, as the ones on our 'old' one are getting really rusty.

I would have thought they would have survived longer than 18 months : (

Now we're debating the colour for the calipers.

Ange says I cant have red. (She said , 'You're not eighteen any more').

The look she gave me when I suggested yellow said it all.

Any other ideas for a galaxy grey car?

Would Hammerite be ok with the heat generated by the brakes?

Black Hammerite is what I am going for on my grey car. I wanted to get something in titanium colour or something but the choice of Hammerite smooth isn't that great.

I wonder if Hammerite do a "brake-dust-coloured" paint?
