Tyres and Ground height a quick question....

I have ordered some rpf1's from japan and have t1r's in 225 45 17 to go on a 17x9 rim its a small stretch but im happy with the look at its the jap look at the moment. when checking on willtheyfit.com i saw that by going up from a 215 40 17 that my ride height will increase by 19.25mm. This made me think a little.......

My question is that if i went up another size profile wize to a 225 50 17 this would increase my ride height 30.5mm. Would i then be able to lower my car another 10mm, so the car is closer to the wheel center, and still increase my overall ground clearance by around 20mm? Or is there some funky maths im not bringing into thought process'.

    I am running 215/45/17 et49 8j, with no worries.

My 215's are Federal rsr's which actually wider once on the car.

According to Grind (our resident expert on all subjects) these are rubbish but I think they are very good value & so far grip like shit to a blanket.

Offset is your only real worry.

width is not my issue i currently have the mazda option eibach's fitted 30mm drop and was gonna go for the 40mm ones if the ride heigh overall would increase due to bigger tyres.

Bear in mind the difference the larger diameter will make to the overall gearing, speedo reading etc.

What offset are your new wheels?

I thought I was going to need my arches rolled as my TD approached as clearence was close, only finger width between tyre & arch.

Was never an issue in the end as never even caught with me & passenger going 100 mph+ down Craners.

But on Eibachs the car used to pitch & roll more & that was with the larger ARB's.

  5. RE: Tyres and Ground height a quick question....

offset is +45 they fit and there is no need to roll untill ya go bigger than 235 45 17 so no issue there i have all my info from miata.net as the americans run this wheels all the time but they are rare in the uk thats why i have gone for them.

car will read around 63 mph at 60 so no real issue there as i rarely speed unless im on a 60+ ;)

my only queery is as in my first post.

wider and thereofre taller tyres will be fitted onnthe car.

this makes the ride height overall increase a little which im on with.

the car will increast around 15mm overall so my question is......

could i then fit lower springs to the car say another 10mm and still have the 5mm gain overall.
