New Battery Required, which one ?

Content is edited

I think I may need a new battery, after all the original is nigh on 7 years old. Any opinions on which battery as I obviously want one with similar dimensions to fit in the battery compartment and be able to close the lid?

The battery on my old MK3 was suffering by the time it was four....But I put it down to it not getting as much use as I would have liked!

Also: never ask someone if they're from Yorkshire. If they're not, they'll be embarrassed. If they are, they'll already have told you.

Just replaced the battery on the Rover 25. I'd get a Heavy Duty, it was only an extra £7.00 above the standard so worth it for the better functionality you get.

Halfords will supply you a good battery but I'd go to a parts place as it's generally cheaper. The one I got a couple of weeks ago was about £54.00'ish. Gone up a lot over the past few years but if yours has lasted 7 years then it's not bad.

Being outside in sub zero temperatures can seriously shorten battery life, I'm looking forward to getting garage cleared so I can put it in there overnight next winter.

Problem with every battery I've looked at (except the original) is that they are too wide 175mm against 125mm for the original.

Thanks, that should fit, about 25mm higher but otherwise spot on. CCA is 300 against the original's 320-330 but I guess it will still be OK. Interesting that I put my reg no. in the search & it says Battery not available.Frown

This is the correct type which I bought online and was delivered the next day with a label on the box saying  open outdoors immediately.   My original Panasonic battery was replaced last year before it failed.  I charge it overnight once a month when it drops to 12.4 and it rises 12.8 V and all cells show full SG with a hydrometer.

If you fit a taller battery the lid might not go on.
