Vinyl soft top - any recommendations?

Hi

My mk2 has a vinyl soft top. Should I be treating/cleaning it with anything specific - it looks quite black still and I'd like to keep it that way.

I remember years ago treating the vinyl covered roof on my mk1 Cavalier with a specific vinyl roof blacker, and the first time it rained I got black streaks from the roof gutters down the paintwork, so I'd rather not go through all the effort for that kind of outcome!

Cheers

    Hi Matt,

This has been covered many times before, try this.  I have used black boot polish before and all comes up well.  I have also used that black to black and again comes up great.

Google Vinyl roof treatment too and there is loads on there. Drunk

Hi Oakers, cheers for that. I did try searching the archives and found a couple of threads on mohair hoods, but the searching seems like hard work on this site!

I'll have a look at what's available on line, and pick the brains of folks at shows now the season's just about here Smile

Black boot polish is extremely effective considering how extremely cheap it is. Needs to be worked in well using the brush you'd usually use for your shoes, then buffed off. Does all the other black bits too.
