Mk 3.5 the 3 year school report

Our TRUE RED 3.5 is going in for her 3 year service tomorrow, wonder if there will be any issues? tempting fate but don't think so!

Ours was probably one of if not the first 3.5 on UK roads back in April 2009

Just over 25k miles up now, and she is still performing absolutley beautifully not a single niggle that we have noticed, OK I just replaced all 4 tyres, they were not totally shot but the handling was beginning to feel a little dead and interestingly all 4 corners wore out pretty much together with fairly common wear patterns.....maybe an indication of 50/50 MX-5 weight balance?   Went for Toyo TR-1's and I must admit the car has certianly come 'alive' again.

Ours isn't wimmed or lowered just totally stock and in my opinion it handles just superbly, although I have never driven a mk3 so nothing to compare it with, seems just fine as it is to me

What would I change NOTHING what would I wish for NOTHING what needs fixing NOTHING (that we can tell anyway!) just really superb!

Given her a really good visual inspection to see if anything needs WARRANTY attention and NOTHING even the notorious alloys are blemish free, she's kept outside and has driven on treated roads

So 10/10 Excellent Performance from me then!Grinner

So after tomorrow's Service, we are off for our first sunny weekend away in Aldeburgh

Not enough piccies on the forum i.m.o so here's one from a Donegal Ireland trip HAPPY 2012 MXING!

Nice to hear from someone who, like me, is perfectly happy with the Mk3/3.5.

     Hi abstract....Nice little report there...

Have to agree with the statement you made above, after previously owning the Mk3 2.0 sport the handling, and comfort on the 16" wheels of my new 3.5 1.8 Se is just how a car like this should be!

Tha' can alus tell a Yorkshireman, but tha' can't tell him much.

Also: never ask someone if they're from Yorkshire. If they're not, they'll be embarrassed. If they are, they'll already have told you.

I agree- got one of the first 3.5 true red here in South Africa 2 and a half years ago

Had 45000 km service this week

    No problems at all

We bought our Mk3 three years ago this week. We got a good discount because the facelift had just been released. So where you have one of the first Mk3.5s we have one of the last Mk3s

We had the first MOT last Saturday, and the third service on Wednesday (to get any issues sorted before the warranty finishes).

The car has done less than 10,000 miles and there were no issues with the MOT, other than the fact that they used a rolling road for the brake test. I have however been assured that it is a type which is safe for cars with limited slip diffs.

Some of the wheelnuts have started to rust, and the dealer has kindly given us a new full set.

The exhaust back box has started to corrode in both bottom corners. I suppose this is to be expected. I will probably replace it with a stainless steel one eventually.

I mentioned the service bulletin regarding slow seatbelt retraction, and we are booked in for fitting of the modified guides, although the service manager did say that it will not fix the issue.

Same here, did a much enjoyed 12,500 miles in our Mk3 Sport over 3 years and just passed 3,000 today on our equally promising Mk3.5 ST. I think the 3.5 is maybe  a bit more planted on rutty B/side roads and has a nicer throaty engine note if pushed a bit. Feels a little quicker too in some respects, hopefully will only get better once the miles come on.

No problems other than a bit of surface rust on the Mk3 hubs, redone free by the dealer. Also a broken rod end at the third service, really nice ride once it was fixed!

A four wheel tracking exercise made a big difference too. I'm no trackstar though!

    Cheers :)

Passed the service with no issues whatsoever! (other than the usual collatoral damge to the wallet)

Already a few hundred miles added, top down and my pate is already matching the paintwork!

Another piccie from last years rep of IRELAND tour just for the excuse of it, already have 2012's Ireland tour mapped out
