2012

A Happy New Year to all when it comes. All the best from Jockland,  Lang may yer lum reek, or lang may you rum leak.

Hives and I will toast the New Year with a small libation at the midnight hour and then watch re-runs of TV programmes. Black Bun and Clootie Dumpling will be taken and the Stornoway Black Pudding laid out for the morning and then off for the  swim across the Firth.

The villagers will no doubt appear for their Annual Benefit around 1000hrs. as usual. A nice touch that, I'm always impressed.

Have a good one folks,

Grumpyolfella. ------------------------------Laughing

Hope Hogmanay goes well, although it's not been the same since the demise of Scotch & Wry (neary 20 years ago..)

What happened to "The White Heather Club", Jimmy Shand & the guy in a kilt who sang "Donal Where's yur Trewses"?  No, New Years Eve ain't what it used to be.

Never mind, only a few more hours of "Bah! Humbug-ing" left in 2011.

It was a death I never mourned. And as for it's replacement, 'Only an Excuse', drivel.

Give me 'still game' any day.

    Happy New Year

My goodness, some showing of age on this thread with mention of the White Heather Club etc..... Yes, I also remember those days with Jimmy Shand, Andy Stewart and there was Kenneth McKellar used to be popular in those days as well, or maybe earlier!

I've come pretty well up to date and listened to 'Hamish & Dougal's (You'll have yer tea) Hogmanay special which was on BBC Radio 4 Extra (fka BBC 7). Great innuendo with really belly laughs but tailed off a bit as the 'celebrities' turned up for the party. However, the first one was Humph Littleton and he was terrific.

Hope 2012 is a great year for us all.

Sir Harry Lauder singing "A Wee Deoch-an-Doris" at the Kilt and Sporran ... grand stuff.

Happy new year to all.  Wonder what Mazda have in store this year?
