Things can only get better....

Well the week is only a few hours old and already I have learned a valuable lesson or two.

Firstly - hailstones HURT when driving along with the roof down in a convertible and unlike rain drops they do NOT blow over the car leaving you warm and dry inside.

Secondly - if a car going the other way fails to slow down when hitting a patch of flood water, you will get wet, VERY wet when the tsunami it unleashes breaks over the window into the car. The laws of aerodynamics do not apply in this situation.

The week can really only get better!


For those who understand, no explanation is needed. For those who do not, no explanation will suffice

    SLOW DOWN IN FLOODS!

    As winter is with us and floods may occur, may I relate a story?

    A householder in a town where floodwater was within inches of their window cills told how an inconsiderately-driven range-rover, travelling not fast, but just a bit faster than the very slow crawl which would have been appropriate, created a bow wave of not much more than an inch or so - but just enough to wash floodwater in through a whole street-full of people's house windows and cause many thousands of £-worth of quite unnecessary and avoidable damage.

    Yeah, I know, the childish among us love jumping in puddles and possibly hurtling through floodwater creating a massive bow-wave and spray in the air - but please don't do it.

    Also, you don't know what horrors lie below the surface - wheel mangling potholes etc.

    helpful tint, my Mazda was getting pounded by hail last year, find the nearest bank and fly under the drive up window as fast as you can. quick and easy cover in a hailstorm.
