ADVICE PLEASE!

Hi, I wonder if anyone could give me advice about what I should be looking out for when buying an MX-5. I have been to see 2 so far. Both have a fair bit of  rust on the sills. Is this a common problem and if so any idea how to fix it and how much it costs. Any advice you can give would be gratefully recieved. I'm pretty cluless about cars so if you could give me a few tips about what I should be looking for! Thanks,

Cole.

    Ncolie...

Firstly welcome to the forum.Thumbs up

In the main, rust in the rear wheel arches/cill area, good service history, and that the car starts/stops/drives ok and doesn't let in water are the main issues. (search the Mk2 section for more info)

If there are signs of rust on the outside then you can be certain it will 10 times worse underneath!......I've heard figures bandied about of a couple of hundred pounds a side for a cover up (read bodge job) to litterally thousands of pounds.

Don't loose heart.... there are good ones out there, but it will take a little time to find the right one!

    Good luck in your search.

Thank you for your reply. It's been very helpful. Guess I will just have to keep looking. It has been Mk2's that I have been looking at but I'm pretty cluless as to what is and isn't acceptable and what I should be paying. Any way cheers for the advice. Cole
