It's back! with BBR Supercharger.

Quick update.

I picked up my car tonight from Neil at BBR. The drive home was terrible, far too much traffic!

Neil talked me through the conversion before I left and I'm pleased with the work done. It's always a worry when you drop your car off for work to be carried out but I'm happy to say it was all good.

Neil said the car can run on 95 or 98 (98 only if doing track days). I filled up and will monitor fuel consumption over the coming months.

So, the drive home.

When I got the chance to ease on it was fantastic. Most of the drive home was dual carriageways but I had to check more than once that I was in 6th gear and not 4th. The engine revs freely and pulls well and you do believe your in a lower gear.

On the single carriageway sections when I had the chance to overtake it was a breeze. The car accelerates effortlessly and the smile on your face gets bigger and bigger. As people have said before, It behaves exactly as standard just with more oomph. Smooth acceleration, no engine check lights, no dramas.

Unfortunatley I've had things to do this evening so had to park it up and leave it Frown

It's early days and I can't wait to spend more time driving it! I'm hoping to attend Billing this weekend, say hi if you see a grey 3.5 with BBR stickers/flyers on it.

1st tankful gone, so far 31.6mpg using 97 ron. Fuel consumption before supercharging was between 33 and 34mpg.

As expected the fuel computer now over reads.

A couple of updates for those who are interested.

Measured MPG over the course of another tank full and i'm getting 32mpg. A shade down on the last figures

Had the car measured on a dynopack before BBR S/C and it showed 119bhp at the wheels.

Had it measured again after BBR S/C and it now reads 175bhp.

Torque has gone from 121 to 166 lbft.

I've taken some video of in 0-60 and in gear acceleration pre-conversion but haven't got around to doing post- conversion yet.

    That is all. Doggydog33

That's impressive - a 47% increase in max power is excellent (more than many S/C suppliers would claim) and a 37% increase in torque is very good as well.

Thanks for taking the trouble to post these figures; it's always good to have some factual information and some actual figures.

Very good and fuel consumption which doesn't put it out of the daily driver duties either.  What is a dynopack by the way?

Thanks for these up-dates, please keep them coming. Those figure look very good, including the mpg. Your getting the same mpg my standard car. Very interested in this conversion on my car. Let us know what it's like on track.

    GDC,

A dynometer that bolts direct to the hubs. Blurb below shamelessly copy and pasted from another website.

The Dynapack™ direct couples to the wheel hubs and applies a precisely controlled hydraulic load. This method of direct coupling plus its built-in strength means the Dynapack™ is always in control of the vehicle.

Controlling a powerful car on a roller dyno can sometimes be a daunting task. With Dynapack™ you have TOTAL CONTROL of the vehicle, with no wheel slip due to its direct coupled design. With that there is no inertia to mask the results, giving you greatly improved sensitivity, repeatability and significantly reduced time spent tuning and mapping!

    Regards Doggydog.

    Update:

I've done just over 2000 miles with the S/C now and it's consistantly running around 32mpg. The lowest I got was 29mpg but that was doing some 'performance' runs and it was only based on just over half a tank of fuel. Every other tank full has been 31.5 - 33. Not too bad. I am running 98ron where as before I was only using 95.

    That is all. DD.

Sounds boring.  You need to slip in a 4.1 diff or even a 4.3 from an RX8.  Plenty on ebay.  Then get ready to do some Boxster bashing.  And if you can afford a BBR conversion why are you worrying about your fuel bill?  Dont get it.

youre only supposed to blow the bloody doors off
