Economy again.

Ok, got the keyboard sorted from previous post so all should read a bit better now, wasn't keyboard BTW, laptop needed a boot to sort the problem, amazing how often a good old fashioned booting sorts these issues.

OK, real post here. I have posted previously regarding the economy of my Mk3.5, my previous Mk3 easily achieved 30mpg + in normal day to day running yet my Mk3.5 will return me 26-27MPG and no more.

No change in driving style etc. I always used the calculation method rather than relying on the scangauge and am doing the same on the 3.5, the avge MPG gauge is however quite accurate. New K&N filter and only 1600 miles on the clock. The newness won't make that much difference, at least it didn't on my old mk 2.5 1.8 and mk3 2.0 sport, they perhaps gave a couple of MPG difference once they got say 10k miles on them, no major difference.

I know we don't buy these cars for economy but I certainly found the Mk 3 to be quite good on the fuel.

Any ideas, lead foot is not submissable as I have been trying.

Steve.

Perhaps we need a new thread? HOW LOW HAVE YOU GOT THE MPG? I’m sure our track day enthusiast members must be into the teens.

Hey Steve, I know it's comparing apples with kiwi fruit but I couldn't resist telling you I got an ave of 72.5mpg in the Pug over 106 miles on Friday!  But bloody hell it was dull.

I can report that after a long drive for which I reset the trip counter, I averaged 43mpg on mostly motorway & some A roads, taking it easy at 65mph.
