I know there's a lot of aircraft enthusiasts on this forum, particularly for the Vulcan and support for XH558. On Sunday I'm off to RAF Fairford (WRONG - XH558 is at RAF Lyneham!!) for a Hangar Tour of XH558 organised by Vulcan to the Sky project. It's being prepared there for the 2011 display season.
There's still spaces left for 30 Jan and 6 Feb but I suspect you'll have to be quick. Go to http://www.vulcantothesky.org/appearances/aircraft-tours.html for details.

Guest Map << show us where you are(ish) and wave to ALL other 5 owners! It's the MX5 law. A 5 is not just for summer.Stuck in the snow? not got the dosh for wheels and winter tyres?Try AUTOSOCKS Cheaper than insurance
STORM & she has been GEOdChildren can cause accidents in the back - accidents in the back can cause children. Be safe - drive an MX5!
Enjoy yourself, didn't realise she was in Fairford!
Why did I say Fairford! She's at Lyneham. I just had to look at my original post to confirm I am actually going totally bonkers!!!!
She will be at Fairford when the display is on but she's getting refitted at RAF Lyneham. They are looking for a new home for future refits though because, as you probably know, RAF Lyneham is closing down and the squadrons are moving to Brize Norton.
It was a fantastic day out, or couple of hours anyway, plus an hour each way in the MX-5 which was really the icing on the cake. It was not raining but the road was wet so I did not have the top down because of the grimey spray. We could not go up into the cockpit area because the ejector seats, and other kit, has been stripped out for testing and certification but it was still great to get close to a Vulcan again. I did sit in the crew seats when I was in Masirah but that was in 1969.
I now have a sticker across the bottom of my clear windblocker "My other vehicle is a VULCAN" !!!!!
It's all coming together ......
Ejector seats going back in
Must be raining, the canopy is going back on !

Very very cool. Like the sound of the sticker too! I recently got "My other car is an autobot!" but it isn't fitted yet! And try as I might my "I'd rather be topless in my Mx5" one wouldn't stick in my other car Still, i suspect that might have got me in trouble with the vicar anyway (though he did have a convertible in his day!)
