High Level Brake Light Wanted

I think the title says it all. I want to try and get one painted the same colour as my wheels, but don't want to wreck the one I've got.

Cheers, Mike

Best chance is a scrap merchant - do you know how much they cost new!

When I replaced mine for a clear lens version it was a mighty expensive bit of plastic - $270 from a US supplier  which is a significant saving on the UK price of £300 IIRC.

( no mine isn't available  - I'll be putting it back on when I sell the car)

    Hi Mike!

You may buy a Marble White clear brake light from I.L. Motorsport in Germany for 159,79 € and paint it with the colour you like.

    Here is a link: http://www.ilmotorsport.de/shop/article_detail.php5?aid=2763&oid=768&depth=2&page=1&count=22&PHPSESSID=13f9a690472b800295300f8205095a6f

It´s also available in Stormy Blue Mica and other colours. The Galaxy Grey one will also match with your wheels. Sorry, I don´t know the shipping costs to GB and the current exchange rate, but in my opinion it´s hard to find a cheaper one.

    Cheers

It might be an expensive way to go but it will be easy. Why not buy the chrome brake light cover from chromdesign and then paint that? You would then only have to stick it over the existing brake light.

You are absolutely right! This will be the cheapest way to use the existing brake light and only paint the CD chrome  cover with the colour you like.

It could have been my idea...! Wink

Goodness Surprised I hadn't realised they were that expensive. I was hoping to pick a used one up for around £20 off somebody who had changed one for a clear lense version.

I like the idea of painting a chrome cover, MX5 parts are selling them for £22 at the moment. The only problem there is that I already have a chrome cover on mine, so I would have to break it off, as the 3M tape is mighty strong, which is what I wanted to avoid in the first place.

I'll check some of the breakers, maybe they don't know how much they cost new and I may still get myself a bargain .
