Luggage rack fitting

I was able to fit the rack to the boot without any trouble, but need to replace the boot springs to take the new weight - there were replacements in the rack kit but I'm hesitant to just pull the current ones out. Does anyone have some advice?

Many thanks

Hi Emma and welcome to the forum, which model MX5 is it, and you are more likely to get an answer if you post the question in the group related to your car. I can't help but there are many who will have fitted the rack and can.

You will see 4 model specific groups if this helps:

NA (Mark I) Mazda MX-5 (Miata) Model   This is the place to talk about the original Mazda MX-5 (Miata) launched in 1989.
NB (Mark II) Mazda MX-5 (Miata) Model   This is where to talk about the second generation Mazda MX-5 (Miata) - 1998 to 2005.
NC (Mark III) MX-5 Model   Share your thoughts on the third generation Mazda MX-5 - that hit dealerships in 2005.
MX-5 Roadster Coupe   This is the place to talk about the newest 'Powered hard top' addition to the MX-5 family.

I use a sheet of IKEA anti-slip material (they sell it to put under rugs) and a couple of Thule straps ... it works an absolute treat, and cost me under a tenner in total! ... and I always leave it folded in the boot with a blue IKEA bag, in case i need to carry more than I expected on any given trip!

    TRY IT!

If one has a mk3 then be aware that they have aluminium bootlids thereby do not enjoy too much weight on them Smile
