Vinyl roof strip ?

Hi Forum,

Not sure how important this little strip of vinyl is, but spotted it the other day. looks like it's torn off. It's situated above the fold above the passenger side, same other side too although that's intact. I'm assuming it's there to protect the hood from hinge damage. I've tried to glue it back on where it should be, but I doubt that it will hold. Need to be carefull I guess, when I fold the roof.

Is this a common issue with the vinyl hoods ?
