The lowdown on Geneva 2008
The
2008 Geneva Motor Show
has kicked off this season’s European circuit in fine style. Nearly 300,000 visitors had come through the doors by the afternoon of Sunday 9 March, eager to inspect 130 world and European premieres. The show has also been notable for the numerous ‘green’ technologies on display.
Naturally, Mazda made its presence felt with some
debuts of its own
.
If you couldn’t make it to Switzerland to see them in the flesh, here’s the next best thing. This
interactive video
gives you a flavour of the show at large, as well as a chance to examine Mazda’s centrepiece cars up close.
The eagle-eyed among you will catch a glimpse of an Icy Blue Niseko in there somewhere… (The video is only on the Mazda France site at present but don’t let that intimidate you.)

-emitting and – of course – exhilarating to drive its distinctive, superbly aerodynamic form must be seen to be appreciated.
Also in Europe for the first time is the development version of the Mazda5 Hydrogen RE Hybrid. This low-emissions, practical people-carrier demonstrates Mazda’s ongoing commitment towards a hydrogen-fuel society.
Meanwhile, the world got its first look at the sporty all-new Mazda2 three-door hatchback. First reactions were extremely positive, which is not too surprising as it is even more stylish and affordable than its award-winning five-door sibling.
Finally, Mazda took the opportunity to put the complete, all-new Mazda6 line-up in the spotlight. With three body types and four engines (petrol and diesel), there’s now a choice of 25 models.
Mazda and fellow exhibitors pack up and leave town on Sunday 16 March. But fear not, there’ll be another show along soon enough.
In the meantime, be sure to check out the
