Mazda MX-5 named by Car and Driver as one of the 10 Best Cars for 2011

The American magazine Car and Driver has published their annual 10Best Cars and the Mazda MX-5 is one of the chosen few to make their list.

For a model to be considered, it has to be on sale in the US for less than $80,000 and excel in testing. Eddie Alterman, editor-in-chief, explains:

"We are looking for those automobiles that deliver spectacular value, real driver engagement, and the highest fulfilment of their intended missions. Our testing takes place over a week on real roads in the real world, marshalling more than 60 new test cars and our entire editorial staff. It's a real workout, and the best cars on the market emerge victorious."

Car and Driver praises the Mazda MX-5 for its affordability, low curb weight and high agility. In their review they also stress that it’s not only about raw power.

“If 167 horsepower sounds tepid, keep in mind that it only has to propel some 2450 pounds, which it manages smartly. And in any case, the the Miata’s magic lies in its eager responses and the unfiltered connection between car and driver.”

Delighted the family Gene is still so strong in the new car, it warms my heart ! Daft? ...But there you are, am I preaching to the converted?
